If you remember, I’ve been looking at the survey on the site turning40.net about things people decide to do when they’re 40. Number 5 on the list is to write a book.
I can see that it would indeed make sense to wait until you’ve got something to say before you decide to say it.
I suppose, as I’m sure you’ve heard, we’ve all got a book in us, whether or not anyone actually wants to read it is a totally different matter of course. The book lurking inside myself is probably about as deep and meaningful as the very hungry caterpillar.
My problem is, that despite having read an awful lot of books, I have very little imagination, unless it comes to making excuses as to why I haven’t done the things I was supposed to, no point washing the car in this freezing weather, the noise of the hoover will wake the dog, I’m doing my bit to decrease the greenhouse effect by plugging in the iron as little as possible…
If I could have written a book, apart from the very hungry caterpillar, or maybe the tiger who came to tea, then it would have been One Day by David Nicholls.
What about you, which book would you like to have written?
thank you, my pleasure :)
